Finsbury Park Mosque Attack Suspect Named As 47 Y.O. Darren Osborne

The suspect in the van attack outside Finsbury Park Mosque in London, which killed one person and injuring 10 others, has been identified as 47-year-old Cardiff resident Darren Osborne.

Osborne was arrested after a van veered off the road and struck a number of people outside the mosque. Witnesses describe hearing the driver yell “I’m going to kill Muslims,” while he was detained by members of the public. An imam, named Mohammed Mahmoud, has been praised for calming the situation and preventing onlookers from attacking the suspect before police arrived.
At the scene, Osborne was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, but Scotland Yard later confirmed that he was later arrested for commission, preparation or instigation of terrorism including murder and attempted murder.

Police are currently searching a property in Pentwyn – which is listed as Osborne’s address – in connection with the attack. Neighbours told journalists they were “shocked” the father-of-four was implicated in this crime.
Osborne’s mother spoke to ITV briefly about her shock and horror at what her son had allegedly done.
