That’s right folks, Hollywood legends Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty are making their Oscars comeback after things got a bit bloody awkward during the best picture presentation at last year’s Academy Awards ceremony. But if you were a lucky one and missed the complete train-wreck that was the La La Land/ Moonlight fiasco then here’s a tweet that honestly sums up the entire experience:
Still makes me giggle.
If you feel like watching the moment where Warren looks at the card confusedly, and then to the crowd, and then to Faye, and then back to the card, and then shoves the card at Faye, well by all means here ya go:
A lot of people thought the whole thing was a joke until it wasn’t and twitter started screaming.
But alas it seems the Bonnie and Clyde duo want a second go at it. According to TMZ, Faye and Warren dropped by the Dolby Theatre last Thursday to practise because as we know, practise makes perfect. And surely, you can’t screw up something like this twice.
PwC aka PriceWaterhouseCoopers were the team behind the envelope fiasco and apparently accountant, Brian Cullinan was tweeting while on envelope duty and that’s how the mix-up happened.
Following the incident, PwC released a statement saying:
“We sincerely apologize to Moonlight, La La Land, Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway and Oscar viewers for the error that was made during the award announcement for best picture. The presenters had mistakenly been given the wrong category envelope and when discovered, was immediately corrected. We are currently investigating how this could have happened, and deeply regret that this occurred.”
So really, it wasn’t the duos fault and everyone learnt not to tweet and envelope-watch at the same time.
Although, it is nice to see the Oscars making the most of their fumbles. Even 2017 Oscars host, Jimmy Kimmel will be returning ‘cos as his Oscar promo showed, he clearly has unfinished business.
