Family Of 10 Y.O. Killed On World’s Tallest Waterslide Get $27M Settlement

The family of a 10-year-old boy who was decapitated on the world’s tallest waterslide will receive US$20 million (AU$27 million) in a settlement.

Caleb Schwab was killed on the Verrückt waterslide at Schlitterbahn water park in Kansas City back in August last year. Three people were aboard the raft on the slide involved in the accident. Caleb suffered a “fatal neck injury” and two women suffered facial injuries.
The payment was made back in January, but details of the settlement weren’t available at the time. The Kansas City Star reports that $14 million will come from SVV 1 and KC Water Park – both companies associated with the operation of Schlitterbahn – with the remainder coming from a general park contractor, the raft manufacturer, and a company that consulted on the construction of the slide.
“The Schwab family remains determined to hold all those responsible for this tragedy accountable, while doing all they can to ensure this never happens again to another family,” the family’s lawyer told The Washington Post back in January.
