Escapee Tortoise Found 2 Weeks Later A Full 140M From Its Starting Point

A giant Aldabra tortoise named Abuh has been found in Japan two weeks after she made a daring escape from her enclosure in Shibukawa Animal Park in Okayama prefecture.

After the park staff realised she had gone walkabout, they called out for any help to find her – including a ¥500,000/$5723 reward for anyone that could bring her back home.

Abuh has previously been allowed to roam the park freely, because she’s a bloody tortoise and can’t really nick off too easily, or so the park staff thought.

NewsAsia reported that she was apparently found by a keen-eyed bounty hunter 140 metres from the zoo’s gates, which is quite the daring escape, if you ask me.

(It was also reported by local Japanese news that she was found 50m away from the park by a family, but either way it’s not very far from home.)

It’s not the first time Abuh has been a fugitive, either. The cunning torty made a break for it less than a month ago, only to be found and returned back to her enclosure.

Go you good thing, Abuh. Damn the man, storm the gates.
