In 2003, Barbra Streisand attempted to suppress photographs of her California home from reaching the public, inadvertently calling attention to them and ensuring that every person with an internet connection and/or vicinity to gossip mags saw them.
This became known as the Streisand effect. And yesterday, it hit Immigration Minister Peter Dutton with the force of a cement-carrying lorry heading down a hill at 80km/h. Oh, and its brakes have failed.
He tried to get this photo – taken by Fairfax photographer Alex Ellinghausen – removed from the internet.

Naturally, Australian Twitter took next-to-no-time sharing and memeing the absolute shit out of it, and you can see those excellent creations here.
But now – and ohmygod this is bloody wonderful – the photo of Dutton looking like he’s about to chow down on your soul for supper has hit the front page of Reddit.
It was subject to a good ol’ fashioned photoshop battle, so please – feast your eyes on what the good (and international) people of Reddit think of our Immigration Minister.
