Doctor Told 911 That Kanye Attempted To Assault Staff At His Gym

More details are emerging about the hospitalisation of Kanye West for psychiatric care, after he cancelled the rest of his lauded Saint Pablo tour over what sources say is severe exhaustion.

TMZ is reporting that Kanye’s physician, Dr Michael Farzam, called 911 and told dispatchers that Kanye was suffering “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration”, and that though he had not been acting violently he may do so if police came to arrest him.
Farzam also told police that he had put West under a 5150 psychiatric hold – an order which authorises a qualified clinician to involuntarily confine someone they believe is a danger to themselves or others.
Reportedly, Farzam said that Kanye had attempted to assault a staff member at the gym he was working out at.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to Billboard that a person matching Kanye’s description was transported to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Centre for treatment.
TMZ reports that West was handcuffed to the stretcher during his transport to UCLA – which is protocol for someone under a 5150 hold – but that detail has also not been confirmed.
People says that sources close to the star have confirmed that he is suffering from a “spiritual crisis”:

Sometimes, darkness creeps in, and Kanye wrestles against it. He talks about that a lot. It’s exhausting, and it takes everything he’s got. He’s just so tired now; he’s very low energy and feels like there’s a grieving in his spirit. It’s very hard to explain, but something has happened recently, where he’s not the [Kanye] that everyone knows.

We’ll keep you posted.
