UK Deputy PM Resigns Amid Claims He Lied About Porno On His Office Computer

Downloading porn onto your office computer. Fine or nah? It’s one of the eternal questions of the universe, and one which the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has just lost his job over

Damian Green tonight resigned as Theresa May’s deputy PM after a probe found he lied about pornography found on his computer during a botched police raid on his office all the way back in 2008. Getting owned for porn on your computer is one thing, getting owned for porn from nearly a decade ago is another entirely.

It’s not so much about the porn itself, but about the lies. The Cabinet Office investigation said Green had issued two inaccurate and misleading” statements during the recent probe about the earlier porno investigation, which constituted a breach of the ministerial code and forced Theresa May to ask him to step down. Asked very politely, I’m sure.

Police alleged that Green had downloaded pornography on his office computer to the tune of “thousands of images”. Extremely boomer areas here folks. Downloading porno pics onto a computer, possibly in a folder labelled ‘Accounts’ or some shit.

Green issued a statement about his resignation, denying he downloaded the porn. but conceding he should have been clearer about the fact he was investigated over it:

From the outset I have been clear that I did not download or view pornography on my Parliamentary computers.

I accept that I should have been clear in my press statement that police lawyers talked to my lawyers in 2008 about the pornography on the computers, and that the police raised it with me in in a subsequent phone call in 2013.

There you go folks. Don’t lie about porn or you will no longer be one of the most powerful people in the United Kingdom, or something like that. Could happen to literally anyone.
