A number of new venues have been added to the growing list of COVID exposure sites in New South Wales today after they were visited by an infected person, including a major shopping centre.

Anyone who visited Bankstown Central Shopping Centre on January 6 between the hours of 11:30am and 2pm, or on January 8 between 1pm and 2.30pm must get tested and self-isolate until they return a negative test result.

Particular exposure sites within the centre include Target, Myer, Smiggle, Big W, Best and Less and Oporto.

Additionally, the Service NSW centre in Bankstown has been declared an exposure site, with anyone who attended between 11.45am and 2pm on January 8 being urged to get tested immediately.

NSW Health has also issued an alert for the Thai Hung Supermarket in Marrickville, asking anyone who visited the store between 3.45pm and 4.45pm on New Year’s Eve to follow the same advice.

The New South Wales COVID situation has also wreaked havoc on a local hospital, with Western Sydney’s Mount Druitt Hospital being forced to close for infection control cleaning after a positive COVID case attended the emergency department on Saturday.

The emergency department has been forced to fully shut down for cleaning, however there are a small amount of doctors and nurses available in a makeshift ambulatory care space outside the hospital for any urgent arrivals.

Meanwhile, the venues listed at Westfield Burwood on Sunday have since been removed from the exposure sites list after experts determined that the patient wasn’t contagious when they attended the centre.

The news comes after New South Wales recorded three locally acquired COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with two being linked to the Berala cluster while the other is linked to the Northern Beaches cluster.

At this point, the full list of exposure sites is too long to name, but if you’re in the Sydney area, it’s probably worth taking a quick squiz at the NSW Health website to make sure you haven’t attended any of the venues on the list.
