The Herald Sun reports acquaintances told authorities that both Hammond and Herron were at the city event. That tip-off reportedly led police to locate and arrest Hammond on Bourke St on Sunday night.

As police continue to investigate the events leading to the 25-year-old’s death, more information has emerged about Hammond.

Citing three Facebook profiles bearing his name, The Age reports Hammond attended school in Sydney and the city’s Northern Beaches. At one point, he was engaged and became father to two children.

Discussing Hammond to the paper, one acquaintance said that “something happened” in 2017 which led to him becoming “psychologically dislodged.”

In Melbourne Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Hammond’s lawyer Bernie Balmer said his client may live with mental illnesses causing delusions.

Hammond had no fixed address at the time of his arrest.

It has been revealed that Hammond also volunteered at the Lentil As Anything cafe. Eurydice Dixon, the 22-year-old woman who was murdered last year, also volunteered at the cafe.

Hammond will face court again in September. Investigations are ongoing.
