The family of accused drug smuggler Cassie Sainsbury has reportedly agreed to sell an interview to 60 Minutes, after reports emerged Sainsbury was reaching out to the Australian Federal Government to fund part of her legal fees.
News Corp cites a report that Sainsbury’s mother Lisa Evans and sister Khala Sainsbury have signed on to speak with the program. The pair had been vocal in the media regarding Sainsbury’s arrest in the days after it made national news, but have not made public statements since.
News of the alleged television deal coincides with the Nine Network securing images of Sainsbury inside Colombia’s El Buen Pastor prison.

A spokesperson for the network told News Corp the deal to obtain those photos was made separately to any potential deal regarding an interview with her family.
Previously, Sainsbury’s fiancé Scott Broadbridge held a brief press conference with high-profile lawyer Stephen Kenny regarding his ongoing support for Sainsbury.
