A 19-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a woman in Melbourne’s Carlton North.
Victoria Police arrested the Broadmeadows man last night in relation to the death of a woman found on a soccer pitch in Prince’s Park early on Wednesday morning.
Paramedics were called to the scene by a passer-by, but were unsuccessful in their attempts to revive the woman.
The woman, thought to be in her mid-20s, is yet to be formally identified.
The man was charged with one count of rape and one count of murder, and is scheduled to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this morning.
