The dude who kicked off the 2014 celebrity nude photo leak – the one that came to be known as ‘The Fappening‘ – has today pleaded guilty.
Ryan Collins, 36, used a phishing scheme to access the usernames and passwords of over 100 Apple and Google accounts, many of them belonging to major female celebrities (i.e. Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton).
He then gained access to nude photos and videos on those accounts, and although these later appeared on 4chan and Reddit for the sweaty mastabatory pleasure of gross dudes worldwide, investigators have never been able to find a link between Collins and the publishing of said photos. That investigation is still ongoing.
Sentencing has not yet been scheduled, but Collins faces a maximum penalty of five years in a federal prison.
