Benedict Cumberbatch, Real Life Hero, Saves Deliveroo Cyclist From Muggers

Well this is just a tad epic. Benedict Cumberbatch – fantastic man – is being called a real life hero after coming to the aid of a Deliveroo cyclist after he was attacked by a group of muggers on London’s streets.

Cumberbatch had been in an Uber with his wife when he spotted the defenceless cyclist near Baker Street, the actor’s fictional home in Sherlock Holmes. The 41-year-old actor leapt out of the car and reportedly “dragged the four muggers” off the cyclist after they allegedly used a bottle to smash his head.

According to reports, the muggers then turned on Cumberbatch but he was able to fend them off before they fled.

One man in the group, all aged in their 20s, had apparently tried to steal the cyclist’s bike.

Responding to the reports, Cumberbatch told The Sun “I did it out of, well, I had to, you know…”

The actor’s Uber driver at the time, Nick Obank, said he didn’t recognise Cumberbatch until he ran to help him.

“Then it all got a bit surreal. Here was Sherlock Holmes fighting off four attackers just round the corner from Baker Street.”

They tried to hit him but he defended himself and pushed them away. He wasn’t injured. Then I think they also recognised it was Benedict and ran away.”

Obank described Cumberbatch as a “superhero”.

London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident to the Telegraph UK, informing them that the men reportedly made their escape in the direction of Baker Street.

Fortunately, the cyclist didn’t need hospital treatment and according to Obank, Cumberbatch and the cyclist embraced following the attempted mugging.

I feel as though GIFS are the appropriate way to react to this.

What I imagine the confrontation looked like:

Whatta legend.
