BBC Crew Narrowly Escape Getting Pompeii’d In Wild Volcano Eruption Footage

Pretty wild footage has captured the moment a BBC team and a handful of tourists were caught up in the eruption of Mount Etna in Sicily – an incident which left eight people injured.

Footage captured by a BBC reporter shows people being pelted with boiling rocks and steam before making their way into a bus, where a man is seen bleeding from the head.

A volcanologist on the scene said it was the most dangerous event he has experienced in 30 years.
Science reporter Rebecca Morelle rattled off a series of tweets about the experience.:

Morelle also tweeted a photo of cameraperson Rachel Price, who escaped mostly unharmed – save for a huge hole burned through her jacket by a boiling hot piece of volcanic debris:
Etna is considered one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Reporters do not visit the area without an experienced science team, and tourists are advised to only go in the presence of guides.
Yeesh.
