David Cross Says ‘Arrested Development’ Cast “Stands Behind” Jeffrey Tambor

Arrested Development mainstay David Cross says he and other cast members “stand behind” co-star Jeffrey Tambor, after Tambor was fired from Transparent at the conclusion of an investigation into his alleged sexual misconduct.

Speaking to AM New York about Tambor’s appearance in Arrested Development’s upcoming fifth season, Cross said he and other cast members maintained support for the actor.

“I can’t speak for everybody, but I know there are a number of us who stand behind him – from the limited amount we know, we stand behind Jeffrey – and I am one of them,” Cross said.

Cross didn’t specify which other actors felt the same way. AM New York reports it reached out to other stars including Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, and Will Arnett, but did not receive a response.

Tambor, who won an Emmy award for his portrayal of Transparent matriarch Maura Pfeffernan, was cut from the show after Amazon’s production wing investigated sexual misconduct claims from actresses Van Barnes and Trace Lysette.

Tambor has denied all wrongdoing.

Referencing the internal investigation, Cross said “I think it’s very curious that Amazon didn’t make public the results,” adding “I’m not sure why they would do that. I just know the whole thing is rather curious to me.”

Cross said he didn’t know if the allegations would play into Tambor’s continual role in Arrested Development. Despite filming on Arrested Development wrapping in November last year, Netflix is yet to issue a release date.
