‘Transparent’ Studio Investigating Jeffrey Tambor Sexual Harassment Claims

Amazon Studios is investigating allegations made against Transparent star Jeffrey Tambor, after his former assistant made a statement alleging inappropriate behaviour by the award-winning actor.

Deadline reports that Van Barnes is understood to have made the claims in a private Facebook post earlier this week. It is currently unclear what behaviour was alleged in the statement.

In a response to the allegation, Tambor told Deadline “I am aware that a former disgruntled assistant of mine has made a private post implying that I had acted in an improper manner toward her.”

Tambor dismissed the contents of Barnes’ statement, saying “I adamantly and vehemently reject and deny any and all implication and allegation that I have ever engaged in any improper behavior toward this person or any other person I have ever worked with,” adding “I am appalled and distressed by this baseless allegation.”

Amazin Studios is speaking to other cast and crew members about the allegations, and to Tambor himself.

After winning the 2015 Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Tambor used his acceptance speech to thank the transgendered Barnes for acting as his “teacher” for the role of transgender woman Maura Pfefferman.
