‘90210’ Star Jason Priestley Says He Punched Harvey Weinstein In The ’90s

The Harvey Weinstein stories just keep on coming, and the latest is from former teen heartthrob and Beverly Hills 90210 star Jason Priestley, who claims to have punched the disgraced producer in the face at an event in 1995.

Jason Priestley chose to share his story after it was revealed that Weinstein blacklisted actress Mira Sorvino, although it doesn’t appear that this particular incident was connected with with the numerous allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct against the film mogul.

Per Priestley’s version of events, the young actor was attending a Golden Globes party hosted by Miramax, the production company formerly run by Harvey and his brother Bob Weinstein, when things became heated and he was kicked out. He wrote on Twitter:

’95 Golden Globes… at the Miramax party … Harvey told me I had to leave … I was leaving when he grabbed me by the arm and said “what are you doing?” I said “you told me leave, I’m leaving.”

“I didn’t say you had to leave,” he replied. “You just told me to leave … right over there,” I tell him once again. Getting heated now. He then grabs me tighter and says “why don’t we go outside and talk about this?” That was all I needed to hear.

“I’m not going anywhere with you,” I said as I pushed him back and punched him with a right hand to his face. Suddenly, there were security guards pulling us apart and I was escorted out of the party …”

He gave no further context for the story, so it’s unclear whether he was reacting to something Weinstein did when he was asked to leave, or whether this was just a case of two dudes with inflated egos deciding to get physical with each-other. Either way, it’s pretty wild.

Harvey Weinstein, who recently denied Peter Jackson‘s allegations that he ran a smear campaign against actresses Sorvino and Ashley Judd, has not commented on this incident.

Jason Priestley played Brandon Walsh, the brother of Shannen Doherty‘s Brenda Walsh, for nine seasons on 90210, and he has worked steadily in TV since leaving the show in the late 1990s.
