’16 & Pregnant’ Star’s Ex Speaks Out About Her Heartbreaking Battle W/ Drugs

Yesterday brought the heartbreaking news of the death of ’16 and Pregnant’ star Valerie Fairman, who was found unresponsive in a friend’s bathroom in Pennsylvania
While reports alleged that Fairman‘s tragic passing was due to an overdose, the coroner was still conducting toxicology reports and it had not yet been confirmed.
However, Fairman‘s ex-partner David Pryce has spoken out about how heartbroken he is over the news, and how Fairman has battled ongoing and severe problems with drugs when they were together.
He tells PEOPLE:
“I sent her to rehab one time.

She was trying to be clean, but one time I came home and she was lying on the couch passed out with a cigarette burning, that was it [for me]. We wouldn’t have a place to live if she [had] burnt the house down.

She went in for a 28-day program, but then she ended up moving in with her sister after that. She’s been on and off ever since. It’s just a shame.”
He explained that the 23-year-old reality star had tried “really hard” on multiple occasions to get clean, but her attempts sadly did not succeed:

“She would really, really try hard but then people and places and things would change that.

Just getting a phone call or being around somebody changed [her mind].”
He says Fairman‘s mother told him the news, and he wished he’d “tried harder”:
“I was really upset when I first heard, no one wanted to tell me. I was on the phone with her biological mother … I heard in the background her husband say, ‘Tell him.’ I took it really hard.

I blamed myself. I should’ve tried harder.

But I couldn’t get her to come back …. There was just no way to get in touch with her and tell her that.”
So heartbreaking. Our kindest thoughts are with friends and family of Valerie Fairman
