There has been an explosion set off at a 3-day open-air music festival in Ansbach, Germany, where 2500 patrons were listening to pop music.
First thought to be an accidental gas explosion, Mayor of Ansbach Carda Seidel has confirmed to local media that the blast was due to an explosive device. It occurred right at the entrance of the festival, in front of an Ansbach wine bar.
Numbers of injured people are currently unconfirmed, but approximately 10 people have been taken to hospital, some with life-threatening injuries.
One person has been reported dead, and police have told German media they believe that the deceased person is likely to have been a suicide bomber.
Local social media reports a man with a backpack was denied entry and turned to walk away from the festival entrance just as the blast occurred.
