YouTube Symphony Orchestra

Not that classical music needs an excuse to be considered cool again, but in case you haven’t had your required weekly dosage of strings, timpani and contrabassoons, the world-class Youtube Symphony Orchestra are here to make that a uniquely enjoyable experience. Compiled entirely from auditions uploaded to YouTube and then judged by some of the best symphony orchestras and conductors in the world, the YouTube Orchestra’s residency in Sydney will be only their second ever and promises to be a multimedia extravaganza that only the Opera House could engineer. We’re talking things like massive projections onto the inside sails, FYI.

There’s a matinee concert for students on Saturday afternoon, as well as the big mama finale on Sunday March 20. For full details on all the fun, including free street performances and percussion ensembles, head to the official YouTube Symphony Page.
