Wolf Parade Bid Adieu In Vancouver

Wolf Parade played their last show *ever* Tuesday night, commencing operation “indefinite hiatus” after eight years, three albums and countless side projects together. So long you crazy Canucks. We’ll miss the interplay between Dan’s Springsteen-indebted drawl and Spencer’s melodramatic shriek thing that was kind of annoying at first but over time became the most indelible part of your music. We’ll miss the one epic slowburner that anchored every album. And the manic pop song that lifted it. We’ll resent the fact you never toured Australia. We understand it was probably out of your control. We’ll mythologize Apologies to the Queen Mary in due course. What a fantastic debut, the best of the 2000’s even. Maybe. We’ll watch the videos from your last show and feel sad. But happy too. Because you were a pretty awesome band, Wolf Parade.

We hope Australia factors into your inevitable reunion tour.

In brief: With the band on “indefinite hiatus” Dan Boeckner will focus on Handsome Furs with wife and bandmate Alexei Perry. Their third album Sound Kapital is due June 28. Spencer Krug will focus on new solo project Moonface. Download first single “Faster Peter” here.
