Wild Beasts Video – “All The Kings Men”

Wild Beasts’ sophomore LP Two Dancers sounds like the work of time traveling minstrels high on Opium and grandeur, not four twenty something dudes from the South of England.

That’s probably why we love them so much. There’s a fine line between baroque and pretentious but the Kendal quartet keep things organic enough to avoid accusations of the former. Yet for all their sonic quirks, most notably Hayden Thorpe’s effected Antony-on-Ecstasy warble, there’s enough genuine pop craftsmanship to distill the off-kilter shtick into a palatable form for the masses. “All The Kings Men” is one such track. Give it a few listens and you’ll mirror the occult referencing video – a head full of magic and a strange desire to light fires in the night and send guttural screams into the silence.
