Like any good Karate Kid throwback which doesn’t involve a scene where Jackie Chan high-fives Jaden Smith on The Great Wall of China, The Temper Trap’s ‘Need Your Love’ video features a triumphant slow motion training montage, a Mr. Miyagi mentor figure who teaches martial arts via osmosis, and a breathless victory scene which subverts the usual KK ending – fly kick your nemesis in the head and 30 seconds later they’ll forget you were enemies and respect you – by pairing former adversaries together to beat down a preppy group of street thugs. Extra points for the historically accurate Member’s Only jacket seen throughout. Very good Temper Trap, very good. Wax off below…
