WATCH: FIDLAR’s New Music Video Is Made Entirely Out Of Your Emoji Fam

If there’s one thing Gen Y loves, it’s emojis: emojis on everyfuckingthing #emojis4lyf #emojis4PM.

Knowing this, the clever bastards of LA punk rockers FIDLAR – who last October wrapped a supes successful two-month US headline tour with Dune Rats – has dropped a music video made entirely of… EMOJIS.
The clip – directed by longtime collaborator Ryan Baxley and animated by Nolan Fabricius – reimagines FIDLAR’s notoriously cray live shows in a world made entirely of your keyboard fam for single ‘Why Generation’, from their second album Too.
Ryan and Nolan used so many emojis to create the video that they lost count – and, if there wasn’t already one of what they wanted (hellloooooo, avocado), they made one.

“I can say that every single aspect of the animation (except for the band characters) was created from emojis, from the smoke trails coming out of the rocket to the speakers on the side of the stage,” Ryan told P.TV. “If there weren’t emojis of the items we wanted, we made them taking bits and pieces of multiple emojis and stitched them together.”

FIDLAR’s members Zac Carper (guitars/vocals), Elvis Kuehn (guitars/vocals), Brandon Schwartzel (bass), and Max Kuehn (drums) today hit the roads of AU/NZ with Laneway, appearing alongside the likes of Grimes, Vince Staples, CHVRCHES and heaps more in cities around ‘Straya (brb, vomiting rainbows).
