Watch: Bleeding Knees Club, ‘Have Fun’

Purloining off the affluent bohemian Brooklyn/London vibe is still firmly in the eyes of the Australian independent music scene. As seen with Bleeding Knees Club‘s latest filmic offering for their single, ‘Have Fun’.

Weighed up against Rebecca Black’s Friday we find some tough lyrical competition from the Gold Coast lads, as the listener digests the plausibility of a 20-something-year old singing about life in 1994. Add a few lines about cigarettes and the refrain “I just want to have fun” and you have 1:53 of powerful rehearsal room fodder.

The director, Kai Neville, captures the boyish insouciance of the pair, as they’re joined by an equally avant-garde beatnik beauty on a free-spirited road trip across the country in an original VW Beetle. Their beautiful eyes are shielded by Ray Ban Clubmasters – constant close ups assure us of the brand. It would appear that Neville has used the Hipstermatic video app to effectively capture the zeitgeist. The results are sublime.
