In what could be their most confusing creative endeavour since sampling Miley Cyrus, intricate British rock act Alt-J has released a deeply weird video hinting at new music.
The trippy visuals, posted to the band’s Facebook page, are reminiscent of that Windows 98 maze screensaver – if you ran it through a Sega Dreamcast. Underwater.
Of course, there’s also music involved. Wrap your ears around this Massive Attack-esque snippet:
Perhaps more beguiling is the video’s title. Some boffins in the video’s comments translated “00110011 01110111 01110111” into binary, and the result – 51 199 199 – could be an abstract reference to a release date.
Also uploaded: this image, which is probably less Magic Eye puzzle and more steganography:
It’s been a while since the cymbal-free band’s last release, but damn, it’s also been a minute since the last good ARG was unleashed on the internet. Consider us triangles, ’cause we are ready to throw shapes, fam.
