V Raw Job Of The Week – Modular Records

Could you envisage working with the two affable bros above? If the answer is yes, and you’re acquainted with concepts like Social Media, HTML Code, meme generation and the intranet in general, V Raw’s job of the week, Modular Records’ “Digital Intern Ninja” should test your mastery of ones and zeros.

Modular Records is of course, the Sydney-based home of acts such as The Avalanches, The Presets, Cut Copy and Wolfmother but it’s not all disco ball desk ornaments, Apple products and Joy Division tees. If you want to be Modular’s digital intern ninja you have to be concise while possessing the ability to throw shurikens and hide in small spaces. But mostly concise. Here’s why.

Instead of the usual application route, potential interns must hit up V Raw’s Twitter and complete the phrase †I should be the V RAW/Modular digital ninja because …’. No need to type out the whole sentence just fill in the blank after “because” and remember to mark your tweet with the hash tagged #v_raw_modja. Tweets will be judged on creativity, reference to other information sources and being damn clever.

As an aside, I interned at Modular many moons ago and couldn’t recommend it more. So get your tweet on here and check out the details below…

Modular Digital Intern Ninja

We’re looking for a hungry digital kid looking to get a foothold in the online world with the music industry as the backdrop. Our innovation foundry, Modular Ideas, is growing and you’ll be a part of its legacy. Don’t worry if you’ve not had a stint in the commercial realm – we’ll soon get you up to scratch.

Aside from what you’ve learnt at University or picked up by just being part of the online world you’ll need to have a basic understanding of (and have adapted early to):

– Facebook.
– Flickr.
– MySpace.
– Twitter. Using TweetDeck / Twhirl. Digsby on PC.
– Tumblr a bonus.
– Wordpress. Adding pages and posts. Spamming/deleting comments plus the ability to spot trolling a mile away.
– Google Analytics. Running reports. Finding and adding tracking code a bonus.
– Campaign Monitor. Checking subscribers and reports. (We’ll teach you how to upload and send campaigns – unless you already have the knowhow).
– Basic HTML. CSS a bonus. CSS ninja FTW.
– Photoshop. Resizing and cropping images.
– Standard Office suite. Excel and Word.
– Email client. Whatever flavour you feel comfortable with.
– Communication skills – can’t get enough.
– A love of all things digital.
– An acquired musical palette a bonus meaning you can do a couple of rounds with the A&R kids and still be standing at the end of it.

Start pimping your Facebook and better get a Twitter account because they will be scrutinised. And, being the web savvy person you are, you should have some code out on the web be it a straight up HTML site all the way to a database-driven monster. You need to be able to prove yourself.

If mail is your friend try thegeneral@modularpeople.com or even better hit us on Twitter and show us how you throw down.

What is Modular you ask?

Modular rules because our bands rule. Our strength lies in our diversity and within that our ability to turn people onto something new they might not otherwise bother with, because it has the Modular stamp of approval. From Wolfmother to The Avalanches to Cut Copy to The Bumblebeez to The Tough Alliance, there’s not really any other unifying thread other than the fact that they’re totally awesome and they share that same stamp on the back of their CD. Plus everyone working employed by Modular has to pass a painfully strict beauty guide, meaning everyone in the office is beyond hot.
