HOLY SHIT: Tones And I’s ‘Dance Monkey’ Is Currently The Most Streamed Tune On The Planet

Tones and I‘s ‘Dance Monkey’ is currently atop Spotify’s Global Top 50 ahead of Drake, Post Malone and Shawn Mendes. Not bad for a 19-year-old from the Mornington Peninsula, hey?

‘Dance Monkey’, which is enjoying its 11th straight week atop the ARIA singles charts, has been streamed on the service over 300 million times, boasting nearly 6 million daily listens.

Tones, real name Toni Watson, is the first Australian artist to top the global charts, and took to Instagram a couple days back to celebrate the feat. “I have the number one most streamed song on Spotify world wide at the moment,” she posted to Insta, “and an Aussie artist has NEVER done that before!!!!!!!!”

A couple days later, and the feat still remains.

“It feels nice to know that people don’t mind listening to a bit of Tones,” she joked in a recent interview with Spotify, “either on the way to school or on the way to bingo.”

“I’m still getting my head around it. I just try and focus on each day as it comes.”

Tones has enjoyed a stellar 2019 – she boasts 8 ARIA nominations, played at the bloody AFL Grand Final and just cracked Billboard’s Hot 100, debuting at a humble 96, which is sure to rise very, very soon.

What a national hero. Stream ‘Dance Monkey’ for clear skin and Australian pride.
