Three Rioters Arrested Over Sony Warehouse Fire

Earlier this week, two 18-year-olds and one 17-year-old were taken into custody over the devastating Sony warehouse fire, that destroyed the stock of independent labels like Matador, Sub Pop, Domino, XL, 4AD, Rough Trade, Thrill Jockey and Warp. Following the blaze, Warp released a statement saying, “All of Warp’s UK stock appears to have been lost in the fire. The Sony DADC warehouse also acted as our international distribution hub and so this has affected our ability to supply our overseas partners.”

The youngest of the three has been released on bail. On last reports, the two 18-year-olds remain in custody. We’ll let the courts decide, but for helping to further cripple the independent music industry, they should also be sentenced to an eternity of this shit.

The distribution group PIAS and AIM (Association of Independent Music) have set up a relief fund. You can donate at at the AIM site, or by emailing labelsupportfund@musicindie.com
