A long time ago in a galaxy far far away Darth Vader, Snoop Dogg, David Beckham AND Daft Punk appeared in the same television commercial and it was awesome. That’s what future geeks from the Planet Unobtanium might say of this chest pumping 60 second spot from the new Adidas/Star Wars line which re-imagines George Lucas’ opus as a hip hop video.
Granted, anyone looks cool when they’re slow motion walking through ruby tinted fog but when that dude is Darth Vader and the soundtrack is a chuggy remix of the “Imperial Theme Song” that’s like “I just knocked out Mike Tyson and Chuck Norris with sheer intimidation” levels of bravado.
The urban meets sci-fi vibe continues with flares, street parties, X-Wings, lightsaber baseball bats and cameos by David Beckham, Snoop Dogg and Daft Punk. Then we can only assume it’s off the ultimate house party in the Millennium Falcon hull with Daft Punk on the decks and Snoop in the corner trying to use Vader’s breathing apparatus as a vaporizer.
