The Duke Spirit’s Australian Tour Diary Part One: Brisbane

UK four-piece The Duke Spirit have slowly garnered an international following through their refreshing take on 90’s alternative and support slots for the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Mercury Rev, R.E.M., Supergrass, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Eagles Of Death Metal and Duran Duran. For their first foray Down Under the band’s front woman Leila Moss (a recent Alexander McQueen muse) took some snaps and notes from Brisbane which according to Moss isn’t as shit as ex-pats would have you believe, as a former resident I tend to agree…

So here we are with a little selection of snaps from the first 36 hours of our shenanigans in Australia…Glorious so far, we have zero complaints! As far as I’m aware the tour goes Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Back to Sydney…SO why do fellas keep asking me about my map of Tazzy? I don’t think we have time for a visit there.

Ahem…

…no they didnt really.

Here is a picture of our first ever Australian audience the first gig of the tour in Brisbane…Look at those hot young things. What a beautiful welcome they all gave us to Oz.

Brisbane was surprisingly good – I hate to tell you all that those sneaky Aussies that come to the UK and hang out in Hackney…well they always slag off Brissy. But Rest assured, we found the best parts of town and the sweetest folk, so no harm done by that little rumour.

I am currently in a hurry in Melbourne and need to run, so I’ll put together a right proper yarn for later in the week with much better stories and pictures. Hold that thought xxx
