The Horrors have, in the space of one album, transformed from a forgettable goth garbage act who appealed to 15 year old Myspacers, to near-infallible critical darlings who appeal to 15 year old Myspacers and grizzled Neu! fans and stick insect art kids and other groups of people who predominantly wear black. That shit ain’t easy. Ask Marilyn Manson he’s been trying to get credible for years.
Granted the eye makeup, ridiculous hair and stupid monikers remain but critics now ignore the things they once ridiculed because it’s only “all about the music” if the music is good, you know? Yeah, you know. Anyway more kraut-y drone from the Southend quintet just how we like it.
