Sia‘s searingly raw video for “Elastic Heart” starring LaBeouf Bourguignon and 12-year-old ‘Chandelier’ star, Maddie Ziegler, dropped yesterday and has already been greeted with a backlash, a twitter apology, and millions of more views because of it all. Textbook internet, right here.
The video, which has Shia LaBeouf and Maddie Ziegler trapped in a cage, interpretative dancing their feelings out in what really is quite a stunning piece of work – received negative responses for the pairing of LaBeouf and Ziegler acting as a trigger for “pedophilia”, to which Sia has defended and apologised, explaining: “I anticipated some ‘pedophelia!!!’ Cries for this video. All I can say
is Maddie and Shia are two of the only actors I felt could play these two warring ‘Sia’ self states.”
And if a prayer hands emoji doesn’t patch things up, I don’t know what will.
