Sampology is quite possibly one of Australia’s most stimulating AVDJs, just ask the couple he caught having sex during one of his sets! Currently touring the country with his show Stimulation, we spun the bottle and spent a quick seven minutes in heaven with the mop-haired lad.
Talk us through your latest show, Stimulation. What can we expect?
Pretty quickly into the process of starting to put the Stimulation show together, I realised that if I was going to do a sexually charged show I would have to really commit to some steamy sections. It’s really fun for both me & the crowd. Two people were caught having sex during one of my shows on this tour! It’s really sexual, how do you come up with your concepts?
I’m pretty bad at forcing myself to come up with ideas, but I’m constantly getting distracting & mentally drifting off to the point where I come up with stupid ideas, some of which work really well.
How hard (hehe) was it to find the footage? Did you just sit and think about sex all day?
I’m a guy, that’s what we’re supposedly all doing 99% of the time, am I right ladies??? But seriously, I just thought of all my favourite funny sex scenes, (like the kitchen scene in ‘Don’t Be A Menace In South Central While Drinking Juice In The Hood’) or other content I can juxtapose, by inserting some of my own styled illustration over the top, or with a weird audio combination.
For all the tech peeps, walk us through your set up.
MPC + Turntables + Rane 62 Mixer + Serato + Video Mixing software + Go Pro Cameras. The show has progressed and organically grown through all of the ideas I’ve wanted to bring to how I want to mix audio and visual live. I’m really bad at standing on stage and doing nothing so I like to keep busy.
