Celebrity-fronted PR stunts are the wackness. I mean there’s the obvious benefits of philanthropy and media attention but then there’s the cringe-worthy promo shots and half-baked ideas; a highway of lame paved with good intentions.
In 2004 P Diddy told the youth of America to Vote or Die. In 1984 Sir Bob Geldof asked Ethiopians whether they were aware of Christmas. And in 2010 Santigold, Lupe Fiasco, Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsche and Jacques Costeau’s granddaughter will climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness for the clean water crisis.
