sally and erica IWD

Triple J breakfast hosts Sally and Erica have honoured international women’s day by turning 10 years of women in music into 10 songs.

The duo paid tribute to some of the most inspiring women of the 2010s with a medley rap.

The rap and accompanying video comes ahead of Triple J’s International Women’s Day coverage, Girls To The Front on Sunday March 8.

Throughout the medley, the duo pay tribute to just some of the many women who have made music great over the last decade including Haim, Ruby Fields, Beyonce and many Sia, among countless others.

Every time you listen to the rap, you’re bound to find another shoutout to the likes of Billie EilishLorde and even Amy Shark. Honestly, the whole track is just a huge reminder that we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to kickass women in music.

Triple J does a wonderful job at showcasing some of the incredible women we’ve got in the music industry on a daily basis, but to have all of that amazing talent wrapped up in one catchy medley is just something else.

Not to mention, they spoilt us today with an absolutely *chefs kiss* Like A Version from sweet angel G Flip, who covered girl-power anthem Lady Marmalade.

Girls To The Front will see 24 hours of women in music across triple j, Double J and triple j Unearthed on March 8. From Florence and the Machine and Courtney Barnett to MIA and Lizzo, we’re in for a great day in music from some of our favourite kickass women.

Not to mention, we’re also getting the incredible hosting duties of Triple J’s incredible roster of women including  Bridget Hustwaite, Caz Tran, Ebony Boadu, Jess Perkins, Karla Ranby, Nat Tencic, Tia Newling and Zan Rowe.

Its 2020 and we’re appreciating the kickass women that make our music scene so incredible and diverse.
