Oz Uni Students’ Kanye Musical Makes World Headlines

On Monday (23 Aug) we learned about the forthcoming Sydney University production of Kanye: The Musical – an original theatre production about “a story of a struggle against the man to become the man. It’s about a guy who took a shot at the throne and didn’t miss.”

The creative team behind the production, Phillip Roser and Damien “Damo Higgo” Higginbotham, are on the way to becoming the next big theatrical wunderkinds after details of the show went viral. International press headlines so far have included the following…

NME: “Kanye West: The Musical to be staged in Australia”
Los Angeles Times: “‘Kanye: The Musical’ will come alive in Australia”
Contact Music: “Kanye West – Kanye West Gets His Own Musical In Australia”
The Huffington Post “‘Kanye: The Musical’ To be Performed At University Of Sydney, Australia”
MTV UK: “Kanye West: The Musical Plans Confirmed – Students from Australia are set to bring Yeezy’s life to the stage…”
AND
Global Grind who sign off the piece with “We’re booking our tickets on Quantas now!”

Considering all this press, surely the chance of Kanye making an appearance to one of the three Kanye: The Musical performances isn’t entirely unrealistic. Firstly, the show run does not appear to conflict with his Watch The Throne Tour dates, and don’t forget about his collaboration with Harper’s BAZAAR Australia‘s fashion editor,Christine Centenera, who was confirmed to be working with Ye on his pending womenswear collection…

Surely the only thing more meta than watching your life story performed live is watching a video recording of yourself watching a musical based on the story of your life in the mirror.

Tickets cannot be reserved, they are only available for purchase on the door ($6). Get in quick.
