New Thom Yorke – “All For The Best”

This track is like 31 types of epic. It’s like the fucking Baskin and Robbins of gorgeousness. But hey it’s Thom York so what else would you expect?

The cover is taken from Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy a 21 track compilation dedicated to Melissa (the wife of singer-songwriter Mark Mulcahy) who died suddenly last year leaving Mark to raise three year old twins all on his lonesome. It’s tragic stuff but Yorke’s heartbreaking amalgam of skittering electronics, angelic vocals, MBV style over-driven guitars and of course Mulcahy’s beautiful lyrics has birthed the most stirring of tributes. This is ethereal, grounded in real loss, sonically transcendent and a stern contender for song of the year. Now excuse me while I bawl my fucking eyes out.

Do yourself a favor and listen to it here!
