Surf’s up, Sonic the Hedgehog-style! The cover art for the MGMT’s forthcoming sophomore release, Congratulations, has been revealed.
The artwork was provided by American-based Pop Surrealist Anthony Ausgang, who is credited as being one of the pioneers of the art world’s ‘Lowbrow’ movement. The super colourful psych-cartoon piece is kitsch as hell (though, according to the principles of Lowbrow, that’s kind of the aim of the game), and will probably land this cover at equal billing on both Best AND Worst of lists for sleeve art this year.
