Metallica’s Probably Touring ‘Straya In 2017, If You Believe AJ Maddah

Hold onto your hats, folks: if a tweet by festival kingpin AJ Maddah is any indication, we might be seeing thrash kings Metallica on our shores in 2017 – the first time they’ve graced our shores since a Soundwave appearance in 2013. Their last headlining dates were back in 2010 for the Death Magnetic Tour, so it really has been a freakin’ while.

He did clarify that he meant ‘pennies’ and not ‘peenies’, which is an enormous relief for those among us who lack the budgetary moxie to save adequate peenies.

For those among us who are not satisfied with a crudely spelt AJ Maddah tweet before commencing a freakout, drummer Lars Ulrich did say earlier this year that their touring plans to support new album Hardwired… To Self Destruct would probably be of a similar scale to Death Magnetic‘s supporting tour.

“We did 180 shows on the Death Magnetic tour in two-week periods over three years,” Ulrich said. “That’s what works for us. We’re going to start pretty much full-on touring in January.”
It’s probably a fair bet. Prepare your wah pedal and unfathomably loud snare drums, folks.
