Chill dude Macklemore is all about equal love, increasing the peace and hacking the sack, but he may not be relaxing to the max today. The inexplicably popular rapper and 9/11 truther played a secret show last night in his hometown of Seattle, and landed in hot water for his … let’s go ahead and say ‘fucking baffling’ costume choice.
While performing the song ‘Thrift Shop’, Macklemore donned a dark wig, a swarthy fake beard and a massive, hooked false nose. Nobody’s quite sure what effect he was going for, but to a lot of people, the get-up looked a hell of a lot like an old-fashioned anti-Semitic caricature. The implication, I guess, would be that Jewish people are thrifty?
Social media proceeded to utterly soil itself, in a rush to draw attention to Macklemore‘s incredibly poor choice. Following the outcry, the rapper defended himself on Twitter, claiming that his costume was just a random outfit he threw together, or some bullshit.

Many people, including Seth Rogen, refused to buy the notion that he could be that clueless.

Was Macklemore’s costume deliberately anti-Semitic, or was he genuinely too daft to realise what he he was doing? The message here, as usual, seems to be that you should really just take a breath and think for five fucking seconds before you act, especially if you’re Macklemore.
