Lorde Takes Home Two Grammys And Comes 2nd In The Hottest 100 In Under 24 Hours

In the next chapter of ‘How To Make Me Feel Uncomfortable About My Life Choices’ 17-year-old Kiwi star Lorde has added two Grammys and the No. 2 track on the hottest 100 to her list of achievements in the past 24 hours.

Lorde won Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for her song Royals. She did so beating out a list of huge names including Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Pink. She missed out on her other two nominations, Best Pop Vocal Album and Record Of The Year, to Bruno Mars and Daft Punk respectively.

Still, two from four’s not bad, is it?

Yesterday Lorde came in 2nd for the Triple J Hottest 100 countdown with her track Royals, being edged out by Vance Joy by only the smallest margin (1000 votes). It’s the icing on the cake for what has been a monster year for the singer.

Now, the only question is where will she go from here? Celebrity more often than not doesn’t seem kind to young pop stars, with Justin Bieber recently adding his name to the list of child stars who completely lost their shit. Will Lorde follow a similar path? Or will the fact that she’s a Kiwi and seems like a bit of a chiller negate that?

If you feel a little rubbish that someone so young has been so successful while you spent your glorious 17th year on this planet ripping billies behind the classroom, don’t worry, you’re not alone.

Just take solace in the fact she’s still a year off legal drinking age while you nurse your post-Australia Day hangovers.
