Larry Tee, Charlie Le Mindu, Graz & Ellery Take Pop Music’s Big Wigs To The Dogs

The self-proclaimed “most outrageous artist in electronic music“, DJ, songwriter and producer Larry Tee, has teamed up with the most outrageous artist in follicle fashion and technicolour merkins, haute coiffure designer Charlie Le Mindu, on the music video for ‘Charlie‘.

It’s a high amp, high camp canine re-imagining of today’s biggest pop icons that literally takes them to the dogs in hair-raising wigs by Le Mindu (whose work with hair as ready-to-wear is worth seeking out) and sunglasses by local lens-specialists Graz and Ellery.

Larry Tee (real name: Larry Thom) helped kickstart the careers of drag legend RuPaul (he co-wrote the anthemic ‘Supermodel (You Better Work)’), The Scissor Sisters, Peaches and Fischerspooner, and he’s also created work with the exercise ball-fond Princess Superstar, LGBTQI-icon Amanda LePore, Santigold, Steve Aoki and Afrojack.

However, you’d have to say that the pun potential found in the fifteen canine caricatures featured here, including Chihuahua Del Rey, Sticky Minaj, Amy Doghouse and Katy Puggy, plus a near indistinguishable vocal from performer Jean Claude Madhero and a reference to a viral pioneer in ‘Ouch Charlie‘ have guaranteed Tee a new kind of career milestone, plus the kind of instant #memeability that money can’t buy and all kinds of sense steer clear of.

This is ridogulous/amazing. Don’t fight it – roll over:
