Kendrick Legit Produced The ‘Black Panther’ Soundtrack & The 1st Track Is Here

It’s been a pretty poorly kept secret that Kendrick Lamar has been set to contribute in some way to the Black Panther soundtrack, but now it’s a confirmed reality. He’s actually curating and producing Black Panther: The Album, and the lead single – by Kendrick and SZA – has dropped.

It’s called All The Stars and it’s… pretty great, actually. Rather than the usual cheesy bombast that comes with songs associated with superhero movies, this one is more reflective and reserved. And bass-heavy, obviously. Because you couldn’t expect anything less. Behold:

Black Panther: The Album will feature music from the film, as well as new music inspired by it. Kendrick issued a statement about his involvement with director Ryan Coogler‘s new blockbuster:

Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director. The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. I’m truly honoured to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside [Coogler] and Marvel’s vision.

No idea when the album will drop, but Black Panther is set to hit Australian cinemas on the 15th of February. It looks like it’s going to kick ass.
