Here’s Footage Of The Riot Tyler, The Creator Incited At SXSW

Rambunctious Odd Future lynchpin Tyler, The Creator now faces up to twelves months in jail after allegedly inciting a party riot at a showcase performance held at at South By Southwest last week. The MC is shown to have encouraged fans gathered outside downtown Austin venue, the Scoot Inn, to force their way through a barrier and rush security, saying “Just run in right now. Fucking do it. Let’s go.”

The best visual summation of which belongs to OF-approved skateboarding magazine, Thrasher, which uploaded the following video to Instagram.

The rapper was later detained at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport after police issued a warrant for his arrest. He was subsequently charged with a Class A Misdemeanour and now faces up to twelve months in jail and a $4,000 fine, with bail set at $25,000.
After making the arrest, the local Austin police department issued the following statement: “The charge stems from an incident that occurred on Thursday March 13, 2014, at a local entertainment venue where the subject encouraged behavior causing an immediate danger and injury to persons. Specifically, the subject encouraged a large crowd on more than one occasion to force themselves past venue employees controlling access at the venue which was already at full capacity. Regardless of the size of a crowd, the encouragement of unruly and unlawful behavior is against the law and cannot be tolerated.”

In February, New Zealand immigration officials denied Odd Future entry into New Zealand after they were deemed to be “a potential threat to public order and the public interest for several reasons, including incidents at past performances in which they have incited violence.”
