The first single off the Yeah Yeah Yeahs upcoming record Mosquito is here. Titled “Sacrilege” the song goes from sleazy rock with a guitar lick by Nick Zinner that recalls the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ post-punk originals (bow down before the great era of 2003-4 guitar bands) and takes a “Like A Prayer”-ish twist when a gospel choir kicks into the chorus midway through. It’s a promising jumping off point for Mosquito which is due out on April 16.
Based on the grotesque album cover art featuring an animated mosquito attempting to ass rape a human baby (designed by animator Beomsik Shimbe Shim) and visual accompaniment to the track the video below, I wouldn’t be surprised if the new record is a concept album inspired by the Donald Trump’s hairpiece of the insect world.
