Genius Wears Twelve Layers To Avoid Excess Baggage, Passes Out On Plane

The seasoned and/or cheap travellers among among us have all flirted with the idea of wearing every damn item of clothing we own onto the plane to avoid excess baggage fees.

19-year-old James McElvar, of the UK band Rewind, attempted just this ploy after an argument with EasyJet staff before boarding a flight from London to Glasgow.
He was given the option of ditching his excess baggage before boarding the flight, or paying an $AU 93 fee. Not happy with either option the intrepid teen decided to do this instead:
All told, he somehow managed to pile on four jumpers, six t-shirts, two pairs of tracky dacks, three pairs of jeans, two jackets, and two hats. The fact that you’re reading about it now would suggest that this did not end well, and indeed, it did not.
Minutes after take-off, McElvar was overheating, and in need of assistance. Staff moved him into an empty back row, where he ditched a little bit of excess vomit-weight into the nearest plastic bag. He told the UK Sun:

“I was soaked with sweat and within minutes I was sick. I got moved to another seat but I collapsed moments later. I was shaking and convulsing. I couldn’t breathe. I heard someone shouting, ‘Man down – is there a doctor on board?’ An off-duty paramedic rushed to my aid and an oxygen tank was brought to me. Other passengers held my legs and arms to stop them shaking.”

EasyJet, who are being remarkably laid-back about the whole incident, have wished him a speedy recovery.

Hopefully we have all learned something from this.
