Exclusive Previously Unheard Arthur Russell Track

Arthur Russell was many things – an avant garde composer, disco pioneer, and buddhist cello player. He’s also the subject of an upcoming radio documentary, Arthur Russell: Tapes of Thought, by documentary maker John Connell. To celebrate Pedestrian is proud to present a world first – a previously unreleased and unheard recording by Arthur Russell.

The track ‘Oh Fernando Why’ was kindly supplied by Modern Lovers bass player Ernie Brooks and is available to stream below.

Arthur Russell: Tapes of Thought is currently in its final stages of editing and will be broadcast on ABC Radio National’s Into The Music in the near future. The documentary will also be available to purchase through Connell’s blog and will feature lots of other Arthur Russell goodies in the coming weeks.

Connell describes the documentary as an analogue journey through New York City and Arthur Russell, featuring interviews with Steve Knutson formely of seminal hip hop label Big boy records, Ernie Brooks of the Modern Lovers, composer David Amram and many more.
