Drake Has Officially Matched The Beatles’ Historic Billboard Top 100 Record

Ya boy Driz has out Driz’d himself once again, as ChampagnePapi has matched—alas, not beaten—a 51-year-long record for the number of simultaneous songs held in the US Billboard Top 100, a benchmark that was put in place by a li’l ole band by the name of The Beatles back in their Beatlemania peak of 1964

Drake, much like The Beatles in 1964, will see FOURTEEN of his songs on the Billboard Top 100 chart next week. Getting to that top spot has been helped massively by his surprise release of “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” two weeks ago, as well as having a penchant for featuring on other artists’ tracks. While four of Drake’s fourteen tracks that will place next week are not strictly his own—like his featured spot on I Love Makonnen‘s ‘Tuesday’—and you *could* argue that those tracks provide a lot less credibility than his own songs, you also absolutely cannot argue that ‘Tuesday’ isn’t one hundred per cent flawless (fight me):

Beyond that, if the prospect of Drake matching The Beatles in any way shape or form does offend you, take comfort in the fact that none of Drake’s tracks actually rank in the Top 10, whereas The Beatles had five of their songs at the pointy end. If the prospect of Drake matching The Beatles in any way shape or form does nothing but delight you because your bae is growing up, then do go ahead and partake in a round of applause. Started from the bottom, etc.

The news comes at a time when Drake is currently Down Under to endorse our sporting heroes and slay crowds at solo gigs and Future Music alike. It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
