Charlotte Gainsbourg Is Coming To Australia!

Just in case being the spawn of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin wasn’t cool enough, Charlotte Gainsbourg had to go and become an award winning actress (Antichrist, Science Of Sleep, I’m Not There), a muse to Balenciaga’s Nicolas Ghesquière (she appeared in the label’s FW 08/09 advertisements and will front their upcoming fragrance campaign) and a musical force in her own right (her upcoming album will feature contributions from Jarvis Cocker, Air and Beck).

In short she’s the only person in the world that has Michel Gondry, Nicolas Ghesquière and Beck on speed dial and if she was anywhere in our vicinity we’d jump fences, dig holes, bribe security and act like a crazy person to get to her. Well fellow Australia dwelling Gainsbourg fans dust off your shovels because Gainsbourg has announced that she is coming to Australia.

Speaking with vogue.uk about a typical day in her life, Gainsbourg revealed the following: “I met with the great photographer Nick Knight to do some pictures which he is doing for the album I am making with Beck – he wrote all the music and lyrics. We still have a little way to go, we’ve been doing it for about a year, and as I’m doing a film in Australia we need to accelerate things to get it launched.”

Which pretty much equates to blah blah Nick Knight blah blah Beck blah blah blah AUSTRALIA. Her IMDB profile doesn’t list any projects currently filming or in pre-production so we’re not too sure what will bring her down under. If anyone could shed some light on the matter it would be greatly appreciated…

UPDATE: Gainsbourg will appear in ‘The Father’s Tree’ a film adaptation of Australian author Judy Pascoe’s novel “Our Father Who Art in a Tree”. Shooting will commence in Brisbane at the start of August and wrap up at the end of October.
